Understanding your Shape

UNDERSTANDING YOUR SHAPE
The Bright and Morning Star Pentecostal Assembly
Pastor S. T Spencer

Psalm 139:13 -Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.
Only you can be you.  God designed each of us so there would be no duplication in the world.  No one has the exact same mix of factors that make you unique.  That means no one else on earth will ever be able to play the role God planned for you.  If you don’t make your unique contribution to the church, it will not be made.
1 Cor. 12:4-6 Now there are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all. 5There are different kinds of service in the church, but it is the same Lord we are serving. 6There are different ways God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work through all of us.

Applying your ABILITIES:
Your abilities are the natural talents you were born with.  Some people have a natural ability with words.  They came out of the womb talking.  Others are good in math, or they may be athletic, or musically inclined.
Exodus 31-5 I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdomintelligence, and skill in all kinds of crafts. 4He is able to create beautiful objects from gold, silver, and bronze. 5He is skilled in cutting and setting gemstones and in carving wood. Yes, he is a master at every craft!
The meaning of Power – ABLE.  God empowers us to be able to do what he has gifted us to do for his glory.

All of our abilities come from God

Romans 12:6 And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith.
Natural abilities were given at birth.  Spiritual gifts given during the New Birth.  Many times we feel that we have not much to contribute when it comes to serving God.  However,  many studies have revealed that the average person possesses from 500 to 700 different skills and abilities.
Your brain can store 100 trillion facts.  Your mind can handle 15,000 decisions a second, as is the case when your digestive system is working.  Your nose can smell up to 10,000 different odors.  Your touch can detect an item 1/25,000th of an inch thick We are a bundle  of incredible abilities.

Every ability can be used for God’s glory

1 Corinthian -Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthian 12:6 And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all things in all.
The Lord has a place in His church where your abilities can shine and you can make a difference.  It is up to you to find that place.
God gave some people the ability to make a lot of money. Moses told the Israelites:    Deut 8:18 But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day.
People with this ability are good at building a business, making deals or sales, and reaping a profit.

What I am able to do, God wants me to do.
You are the only person on earth who can use your abilities.  No one else can play your role, because they do not have the unique shape that God has given you.
Hebrews 13:21-I pray that God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory forever and ever! Amen.
1 Peter 4:10- 1Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well.
Please remember:  GOD WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO A TASK THAT YOU HAVE NO TALENT FOR.  ON THE OTHER HAND, THE ABILITIES THAT YOU DO HAVE ARE A STRONG INDICATION OF WHAT GOD WANTS YOU TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE.  THEY ARE CLUES TO KNOWING GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE.  GOD DOES NOT WASTE ABILITIES, HE MATCHES OUR CALLING AND OUR CAPABILITIES.  ALSO OUR ABILITIES WERE NOT FOR US JUST TO MAKE A LIVING, GOD GAVE THEM TO US FOR OUR MINISTRY.
If you are good at designing, organizing, recruiting or drawing, it is a safe assumption that God’s plan for your life includes that skill somehow.

What ever you are good at you should be doing for your church!
Some of the work being accomplished at many of our churches by the people of God:

Repairing cars, painting, landscaping, organizing files, designing art, programs, and buildings, providing health care, preparing meals, composoing songs, teaching music, coaching teams and on and on.
1 Corinthains 12:6 and we can each do different things. Yet the same God works in all of us and helps us in everything we do.
